How to Make a Hand Washer to Use When Camping

When you are camping it is important to conserve your water usage, especially if you are in an area where you need to bring all your water with you. This hand washer will help conserve water when washing your hands and rinsing your dishes. It is especially great if you have kids!

What You Will Need:

1 - 1 gallon Jug (clean milk or water jug)
1 - 16 penny nail
some string

* Fill the clean gallon jug with water and replace the lid. Put the 16 penny nail in one of the bottom corners and puncture through the jug. On one end of the string attach the nail and tie the other end of the string to the handle of the jug. To use simply loosen the cap of the jug to allow some air to get into the jug. Then remove the nail and you will have a steady stream of water to wash your hands or rinse your dishes. When done simply put the nail back in the hole and tighten the cap.
